Walrus was an existing band that I joined when I was invited by Dave Jacobs, rock guitarist from Miami Beach, to come by one night and try out as their singer. The band practiced at Miami Beach High School Music classroom. Dave knew one of the professors who let him use the space. This is where I first met Jim Token. Jim was a wild man on the drums.. Incredible drum solos! I had never seen anything like it. Not that Jim was overly talented, but his energy was second to none.

The band had Greg McLaughlin on bass, and Keith Overheim on second lead guitar.

We were mainly a hard edged rock band. We did a lot of Zeppelin, J Giles, Joe Walsh and various other blues and southern rock tunes.

We played a lot of gigs around town. One of our favorite places was the Irish House on Miami Beach. We were good friends with the owner’s son Greg, and knew a lot of bar patrons. We even had an electronics tech, Rory that hung around with us. He handled sound, lights and helped with moving the equipment.
Probably the most memorable nights was playing at the Irish House, Dave was trying to impress a girl, and a Great Dane walked in the front door and took a dump right next to her. Needless to say, Dave struck out.
The band broke up after about year when everyone went their separate ways.
